Can't help but feel sorry for Francis, even though he brought all that stuff on himself with all the bad things he did....that scene was quite poignant, especially given Alex and Francis' relationship in the series....

Later on, it turns out that Alex Man is the real son of the rich man, so Francis Ng is afraid that he’ll take everything away from him. Not only that, but they were also rivals with love. In the beginning of the series Alex Man liked Carol Dodo Cheng at first, but later she discovered she had cancer so she broke up with him and married Kenneth Tsang instead. On the other side of the story, Kathy goes out with Francis but she doesn't like him very much. Later she falls in love with Alex man and leaves him.To be honest, I never really liked the pairing of Alex and Kathy -- especially since I watched The Feud Between Two Brothers prior to this one and they were brother/sister in that one, since it felt kind of awkward to see them as a couple this time. I've always felt that Alex matched best with Dodo because of the similarity in age (and maturity level). IMO, Kathy definitely matched better with Francis....too bad their relationship in the series didn't work out....

As jadul80 pointed out, many of Francis' roles in the 80s were villain / antagonist roles, though he also had quite a few defining 'protagonist' roles as well. Regardless, he is able to handle both 'good guy' and 'bad guy' roles extremely well...definitely like seeing him in both -- proves his depth and versatility as an actor....
